We do not stain. Your box will be the natural color of the solid hardwood. This box is made with a solid walnut surround and oak corner splines.

We love the look of consistent grain for the walnut surround, so we use a single piece of walnut as wide as the box is tall.

Our exacting standards mean you will receive a meticulously handcrafted premium quality box that is perfectly proportioned. The solid hardwoods we select for each box we make are exquisite.

The walls of our boxes are 5/8″ thick.

We do not like the look of end-grain showing therefore you will not find this on any of our boxes. The way a given piece of wood has been sawn affects both its appearance and physical properties. End grain is the grain of wood seen when it is cut across the growth rings. We use miter joinery with corner splines which is not only very strong and stable; you will not see any end grain.

We use 3 coats of Arm-R-Seal Oil-Based Urethane Based Topcoat to finish our boxes, it is extremely durable and long-lasting. It penetrates the wood to provide deep-down protection and we love the natural appearance, going on clear and showing off the grain of the wood.
