Our Story
Mad Tree Woodcrafts® is a company fueled by creativity, collaboration and care.
Founders Tyler, a wood-craftsman and farmer, and Christy, a former corporate executive, aligned their true passions and talents when founding their company. They love to help their wonderful clients create and engrave wooden keepsake boxes, custom woodcrafts and signs to help you slow down and cherish life’s small moments.
Their Chow Chow Reba (the pup in Mad Tree Woodcrafts®’ logo) ignited Christy and Tyler’s inspiration for the company. A strong, stoic, regal, funny, independent and lively dog, she exhibited courage and passion throughout her fight with lymphoma (she passed away at age 12 and a half in 2016). Through their grief, Christy and Tyler were reminded how short life can be. They set an intention to live life to it’s fullest. It was time to love and laugh more – interact with others, create something meaningful with their whole hearts – working together doing something they love…each and every day.
Christy and Tyler started their new vocation by rooting in Serenbe, the place they loved to vacation with their daughter and doggies. Mad Tree Woodcrafts® & Engraving was born. The name was crafted from: Mad (daughter Madison), Tree (a combination of dog’s first names Trigger and Reba) and their love for nature (especially walking in the woods), and crafting.
We have always wanted to take our true passion and talents and put them to work for us, spending each day as Reba did, doing what we love to do and with that, we can bring beautiful products to the market we hope everyone will enjoy for years to come.
All of our woodcrafts and engraved products are handmade at our shops in Columbus, Ohio or in Serenbe (outside Atlanta, Georgia) and each product is an expression that embodies our company’s purpose:
To live, love and laugh with others, and make great products with our whole hearts that are full of the passion we have inside of us and want to share with others.
What we do is different from other manufacturers. The result is everlasting and we anticipate our products to be passed on for generations. We are craftspeople. We never cut corners. We never substitute cheap wood or hardware. That’s not who we are. The costs are greater to be a craftsman but that’s who we are and we look at everything we do as art.
Our work is a reflection of the very best within us and we put our heart and soul into each order or project.
